History of the Faculty
In 1911, the faculty started as an Agricultural Secondary School established in Moshtohor. Between 1942 and 1945 it was affiliated to the Cairo University as a branch for 1st and 2nd year students .
1n 1946, it turned again to the status of a Secondary School of Agriculture . In 1957, it was changed to a High Institute of Agriculture( affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education and equivalent to a University College ); beside the Agric. Sec. School . Specializations were General Agriculture and Agricultural Extension with students of 2 nd year spending one practical training in the Federal Republic of Germany . In the early seventies of last century it was partly a Polytechnic High Institute.
The Faculty since 1975 , onwards, the Agricultural Branch of Cairo Polytechnic High Institute was afiliated to Helwan University as a Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. In 1976, it was affiliated to Zagazig University , Benha Branch . From 2005 onwards the Benha Branch became the “ University of Benha ”
.The number of student was 100 in 1957, increased to 1479 in the year 1978-1979;and in 1986-87 there were 1200 students, and in this 2006/2007 year,the number is 650. |
